President Gary Singer
Please join us as we congratulate our founder, Dr. Gary Singer who began his term as President of the Renal Physicians Association in April 2025. The RPA is a national organization dedicated to advancing kidney care through advocacy for patients, private practices, and effective health policy. He proudly represents our community to healthcare decision-makers at every level.

What is Nephrology?
Nephrology is a subspecialty of internal medicine which centers around the treatment, diagnosis, and management of kidney function. This inclues renal (kidney) replacement therapy like dialysis and kidney transplantation.
Nephrologists are experts in the care and function of your kidneys. They do not treat anything in or on the kidney, however. That is a urologist.
A nephrologist's education consists of medical school, a residency in internal medicine and an additional multi year fellowship in the specialty of nephrology.

They are equipped to treat such conditions affecting the kidneys as hypertension, autoimmune diseases, acute kidney injury and electrolyte issues.
